Based on our field test at Boca Theater and Automation, we believe, barring some catastrophic event, it is safe to assume that our RoseWater Energy Management HUB will achieve our projected battery target of 5 to 7 years, as well as 20 years out of the electronics.
At RoseWater Energy Group, we’re frequently asked the same question from many of our new customers. “How long will the batteries last?” And, it’s a difficult question to answer because it can be highly dependent on how the batteries are utilized, as well as their environment. Many various factors, including the number of charge and discharge cycles, the depth of those cycles and the ambient temperatures, can all have an effect on battery life.
So, we wanted to use real-life examples from the first installation of the RoseWater Energy Management HUB to break down the question to give our honest, reliable details. Over two and a half years ago, we installed the first HUB in Boca Ration, Florida at Boca Theater and Automation. Recently, we went back to the HUB at Boca Theater and Automation to test all of the components of the HUB, including the batteries, to see how they’ve fared. At Boca Theater and Automation, we installed the HUB in an equipment room to protect the HUB from extreme temperatures and, over the last two and a half years, the HUB has been utilized on a frequent basis. There are over 20 power anomalies a month in Boca Raton due to weather issues, rapidly growing population, lack of reliability and an aging infrastructure, creating an ideal environment for the HUB to be utilized frequently.
After analyzing our HUB, the testing at Boca Theater and Automation showed the following:
- Inverters are at factory specifications
- Surge protectors are at factory specification
- Charge controllers are at factory specification
- Batteries are greater than 95% of factory specification
Based on our field test at Boca Theater and Automation, we believe, barring some catastrophic event, it is safe to assume that our RoseWater Energy Management HUB will achieve our projected battery target of 5 to 7 years, as well as 20 years out of the electronics. And, with that, our battery lifespan fits nicely into a typical five-year refresh cycle that we plan to employ for our clients.
